The DGPS Primary School is a thriving, happy place where children from many cultural backgrounds are encouraged to learn together, work together and “Strive for Excellence”.

Our aim is for each individual to attain their best by providing them with a holistic education based on the latest developments in the UK National Curriculum 2014. We recognise that children have individual learning needs and therefore ensure that each child has an appropriate level of work to challenge them to the best of their capabilities.

English, Mathematics and Science lie at the heart of our curriculum in the Primary school. The students also get an opportunity to learn the language of the land, Arabic, throughout the Primary years. The Primary programme is designed with the Cambridge learner 5 attributes in mind. Every student is supported to become more confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged. This is achieved both through the curriculum and the diverse range of cultural, sporting and social extra-curricular activities that the children are encouraged to participate in.

As we move forward each year, we strive to incorporate the best that modern practice has to offer. The everyday use of technology in classrooms is becoming more important for our children as they prepare for today’s global connectivity. Central to our values is our belief that all should ‘Strive for Excellence’. We provide everyone with active learning that extends wider than the core textbook. Critical thinking skills are embedded across the whole curriculum.  Often, children will be encouraged to reflect on their own learning and work with peers to analyse their own work in order to make improvements.

We take every opportunity to share each student’s achievement, whether it is academic, sporting, musical or artistic. Our Behaviour Policy rewards positive attitudes and promotes self-discipline and respect for others. Leadership is encouraged from the youngest children in Year 1, who will have responsibilities within the classroom, to the oldest in Year 6.

We want the best for every DGPS student. We expect them to work hard, play hard and achieve to the very best of their abilities. Through their conduct and their achievements we expect them to be a credit to their parents and the school.

Together in partnership with teachers, parents and children, we will ensure that all students develop essential life-long learning skills that will enable them to take their place in society as global citizens.
