Model United Nations

Fourteen students from Dubai Gem Private School participated in the Model United Nations 2015, held from November 13th to 15th, at the Delhi Private School, Dubai. The Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation and/or academic competition in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the methods and functions of the United Nations Organisation.

The theme of this year’s MUN, was ‘International Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity in the 21st Century’. The students were divided into eight different committees at the event, which included many quality debate sessions and at the end of it all, a fun cultural event on Friday evening for delegates to interact with each other and make new friends.

Aayaan Mehta and Prarthna Lal from Year 11 made our school proud by winning an award each, for the best Position Paper in their respective committees. Overall, the Model United Nations 2015, was an unforgettable experience which allowed students to develop a lot of confidence, leadership skills and enhanced teamwork, while having fun and making new friends.
