DGPS makes their mark at Inter School Environmental Public Speaking contest
It was a valuable learning experience for the team from Dubai Gem Private School, when they participated at the 16th UAE Inter School Environmental Public Speaking Competition, held on April 25 and 26, 2016 at Dubai Knowledge Village.
Organised by the Emirates Environment Group (EEG), the competition featured 75 teams from across the UAE, participating in the highly-competitive event.
DGPS was represented by students: Seaghan, Sasi, Esha, Kiran, Husain under the supervision of Ms. Mahua Paul. The team made a stirring presentation on their assigned topic: Climate Change and its Impact on Water Security.
Both the presentation and the speech were well-received by the audience. The experience also gave the students valuable insight into the various factors that affect the environment around us and the factors that cause climate change.
The standard of competition was fierce, with many teams making impactful presentations that threw light on fresh aspects of environmental degradation and its causative factors. The intense competition also gave the students a first-hand look at the competitive aspect of life.
Despite the best efforts of our team, DGPS failed to finish on the winners’podium at the bi-lingual competition. The overall honours were taken by Dubai National School, Al Barsha, while Star International School, Dubai and Our Own English High School, Sharjah finished runners-up.
The DGPS squad returned in high spirits, having gained valuable lessons from the competition and fired up with a determination of doing better next time.
